Stuff from Slashdot

Must.....stop.....laughing........I read this on Slashdot.org:

"There was this one flick We watched on my submarine, had this dude backpacking. He stops, pulls a midget out of his backpack, rails her for a couple minutes, finishes the deed. He then puts her back in the backpack, and goes about his business. Best porn I've ever watched."

Geez, just my luck

Sitting in class again. Object Oriented Programming class is a snoozer.

Funny thing is, I woke up with a lil gas today. Not the happyist way to start the day, but it wasn't gonna get in my way.

So then I sit down in back of class for once today, so I can charge my shiny new laptop, and this really hot girl sits down next to me and asks for a pen. Christ. That's my luck.

More profound thoughts to come later, but I do suggest holding your breath on this one. ;)

Ah professors....

I was sitting in my Windows Programming class when someone piped up with a comment. They wanted the program example that we are working on to function more like Windows does with icons on the desktop or in folders. When you click an empty portion of screen and drag, Windows draws a rectangle starting from where you clicked to where the mouse is currently. Simple. Everyone who has used a computer for more than 5 minutes knows this.

Well, don't overestimate people; my professor paused a brief moment, and looked confused. The student clarified exactly what he meant and gave the him more specific instructions on how to drag a rectangle on the desktop. Being a very earnest teacher, my professor said something to the effect of "That is the first time I have ever done that in my life. You learn something every day."

Oh......My........God........

Chuckles echoed through the classroom. I cannot believe that a professor who claims over 20 years of programming, with probably as many doing actual Windows programming, has never ever seen that.

Just rediculous silliness. The madness continues....

It should be noted that my unnamed professor is a great and knowledgeable guy. I just hope he doesn't surf my blog. ;)

A very funny little page proving that Bill Gates the Third is Evil (tm). Enjoy.

Programming languages

So things are rolling.

I am gettin more and more interested in my Programming Paradigms class. Our first project is to write a simple portion of what a compiler does when it turns source code for a program into an excutable, suitable for running.

The class is also sparking my interest in learning more languages like OCaml, Lisp (namely Scheme), and Haskell. All of those are actually functional programming languages. Oh, and Python, which isn't. But Google uses it, so it's cool too. Hehe. I also want to learn XML and XSLT, but that's another story.

Made a friend today in my Unix Admin class...hopefully he will pan out to be more than a casual friend cuz I need more CS friends.

Ah, and my new vid card is yet to have fancy linux drivers used on it....because I am lazy. I really need to jump back on the Linux-as-a-Desktop horse, because I hate Windoze, a lot.

Sigh. Ttyl.

Dvd Ripping and Sheila

I found this, and as many people want to know how to rip DVD's, I figured I might pass that knowledge on to all my faithful subscribers to this incredible popular blog.

Here are some pictures of Sheila in Hong Kong, where she is studying for a quarter. She is sitting in the far right, wearing the blue shirt. Notice her short haircut...yet she pulls it off nicely.

I'm bored...

...so I am posting pictures of how I am going to assign my talent points in my obsession, aka World of Warcraft, aka WoW. My arcane talent tree is on the left and fire is on the right. The moral of the story goes that as you level up in WoW by getting experience by killing monsters, you gain talent points. Every level you get 1 point. These points can be assigned to things that make your spells do more damage or give access to new spells. Enjoy!
